Draft of General English Elementary Now Available

A draft version of CP’s new Elementary course book for adults and post-secondary learners of English is now available. It consists of the first half of the book, modules 1-6; a teacher’s guide; and an audio CD. Portraits from Exile
Celebrating our 50th lesson, this one looks at a series of portraits taken of people along the Thai-Burma border. The article includes the stories of the people in the portraits. These images and their stories have been published around the world in several different publications. There are comprehension and vocabulary activities as well as group work and creative writing.

Cartoons That Speak a Thousand Words.
This month’s lesson looks at the political cartoons of Harn Lay and their use during the election in Burma by opposition groups. It has vocabulary building and comprehension, analysis and interpretation activities, a discussion, and an activity to encourage students to draw their own political cartoons.

Four new software applications are now available

There are two printable gap-fill generators, which can be used with activities 4.7 and 11.8 in our Two Truths, One Lie classroom activity book. Click here to go to the software, or here to go to the activity books page.

Also available are two maths puzzles. In Open the Safe, students have to ‘open a safe’ by pressing four ‘buttons’. The total number of the four button presses must be exactly 100. In Pyramid, students complete the numbers on the face of a pyramid. Every two bricks add up to the exact number of the brick above them.
